In “Audrey Parker has Come and Gone,” we’re introduced to one of the “created” 4400s. She’s Audrey Parker, of course, an elderly woman suffering from arthritis among other ailments. She has decided to take a shot of promicin in hopes of reversing the health problems she is suffering from due to her advanced age. Like the other 4400s, Audrey has developed an ability: astral projection. In short, she can send an invisible, inaudible ghost-like image/being of herself. This image or being actually looks like she did fifty years ago, much younger and more attractive.
When Audrey learns of a man who is taking advantage of women and taking their money. In hopes of convincing the man to stop his con-games, Audrey confronts her with her knowledge and threatens to go to the police if he doesn’t leave town. Soon thereafter, Audrey turns up dead, possibly from an overdose of pain killers. Interestingly, Audrey is killed while her astral projection ability is working, so the younger version of her can see herself dead and helps Diana and Tom find the killer. It turns out to be Audrey’s nurse’s son, not the con-man.
Elsewhere, Kyle is looking into the “White Light” cult once again, thanks to the insistence of Cassie, Kyle’s ability. He’s still got some doubts about the cult, but it seems he’s a little more open to the idea of he and Jordan Collier having important roles in the cult.
While Tom and Diana are busy trying to solve the murder mystery, Shawn has re-opened the 4400 Center, much to the disagreement of the government. Shawn spends the entire day healing those who showed up that day. In fact, he’s actually had to make a list of those he couldn’t heal that day because so many showed up for the re-opening. Before he turns in for the night, Tom and Meghan Doyle stop by for a surprise visit. Meghan struggled with whether or not she should bring her sick father in to seek Shawn’s help. She couldn’t get the approval of the government, but it didn’t stop her.
The murder mystery done fairly well. The fact that the astral projection was able to interact with Diana made it more interesting. My main criticism of this storyline was it wasn’t that difficult to figure out. The other storylines in this episode seem to progressing slowly, but I trust they’ll be interesting eventually. It was good to see that Maia and Ben have moved to Seattle to be with Diana. I would have been disappointed if this ended up being a long-distance relationship.
