After several trips to local supermarkets over the past few weeks, I was finally able to track down Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream Ice Cream made by Ben & Jerry’s. I’ve never in my life purchased one of these “premium” ice creams before, so the price is a little shocking. When I usually buy ice cream, I go for whatever is on sale/is cheap. A trip to Wal-Mart resulted in me picking up two pints of Colbert’s ice cream for $2.73 each. A closer supermarket sells Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, but didn’t have Colbert’s flavor. They sell Ben & Jerry’s pints for $3.99 each, which damn near gave me a heart attack. I was pleasantly surprised to see the much lower price of $2.73 at Wal-Mart.
As for the flavor, I really liked it. The vanilla ice cream is overpowered by the savory caramel swirl and the tasty chocolate covered cone chunks. Being a huge fan of Stephen Colbert and his show, The Colbert Report, I’ve been looking for this ice cream treat for some time. I’d certainly buy it again, but I have to admit the premium ice cream will make me spend a little more time in the gym, LOL.
If you can find a pint near you, give it a try.

CAW! I watch Colbert almost every night. I remember when he did the interview with Ben and Jerry. I’d like to try it if I could find it around here.

Try Wal-Mart… it seems to be the best bet, unless you’re lucky enough to have a Ben & Jerry’s near you.
