The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from secrets to email.
Stephen starts off by saying how Oliver Stone is in town, shooting his new 9/11 movie, but Stephen doesn’t want to welcome him. He then gets right into tonight’s “The Word”, “Shhhh!”. Stephen found out that the CIA has been detaining and questioning prisoners in secret prisons in other countries. No more digging, just keep it a secret, Stephen says.
Stephen transitions right into a rant on Hollywood and the culture wars. Stephen then shows Bradley Whitford, live in Hollywood. Bradley plugged the upcoming live episode of The West Wing, which will feature a live debate between the presidential candidates. Stephen then noticed Bradley had all of his emmy’s gathered around him, so Stephen pulled out his Emmy, and his Peabody. He then asked Bradley if he had a Peabody, and he did; he actually brought out two, which made Stephen laugh.
Back from commercial, Stephen goes into the third “Better Know A District” segment, which takes a look at the 11th district in Ohio, and interviews Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. Stephen starts off the interview by asking her about a recipe. The interview went on to cover politics and the state of Ohio.
Back from commercial, Stephen goes back to Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, and asks her if she is interested in a show called “Judge Tubbs”, and she agrees to play along and decide a case.
Stephen ends the show by reading some viewer mail.
Another good show, but the interview and “Judge Tubbs” segments just weren’t all that interesting or funny. When Bradley Whitford brought out both of his Peabody awards, it made me laugh, even more so when I saw Stephen’s reaction.
