You could just see it in Jon’s face that this was going to be a good episode when he started off the show. He was giddy about the whole Robert Novak cussing/walk off studio thing he did live on CNN.

After the Novak story, he got to get his jabs in at the media. There was a terrible plane crash in Toronto the other day, and every single anchor on every single channel keep referring to it as a “miracle”, which is defined as “an act of God”, but the airport is praising the flight crew for their fast thinking, which got everyone out of the plane within minutes. Even after the company got those praises out, they continued to call it a miracle. Jon just hated this of course.

Jon then went into a completely new segment, The Less You Know which was really a shot at the government and how they want us to know as little as possible. This was great; Jon really took aim at Bill O’Reilly in this segment.

We return with a report from Stephen Colbert on the Dukes of Hazzard movie boycott, launched by a former cast member of the TV show, Ben Jones (Cooter). Jones is adamantly opposed to the show because of the sexuality, language, and generally because the movie doesn’t contain the values the TV show did. To get some other opinions on this, Stephen decided to go to some college kids and get their take on it. It turns out that they can’t wait to see the film because of Jessica Simpson, saying they would totally “bounce that”. They make many references to her large breasts, and even take a shot at the TV series, saying that it was kind of gay. The Duke boys wore “tight-ass pants” which practically allowed for anyone to see their bulge in the front. The college kids used much more vulgar language when describing all of this; there were a lot of *bleeps*.

Stephen Colbert was able to find someone other than Ben Jones who would be boycotting the film: the NAACP. They’re against the film because of the Confederate Flag which is on the roof of the car. Stephen tried a number of times to get this guy to crack, but was unable to. This whole segment was absolutely hilarious in my opinion. I hope they throw this in another episode sometime as a filler segment.

We now move on to Jon interviewing CNN anchor Miles O’Brien. This was really all about the current space shuttle mission to the International Space Station. O’Brien is CNN’s expert on space, so he’s gotten a lot of time on-air recently. Jon was able to keep the humor going in this segment as well, especially when O’Brien brought out some of the materials that are being used on the space station.

Being a longtime fan of the show, this was my favorite episode in some time. Every segment was rock-solid, and to think it all started with Robert Novak. :)
